| Economics for the Common
Good:
Linking Economic,
Environmental and Community Well-being
"Economics for the Common Good" is our family of
programs that explore the relationships among the economy, the
society, and the environment. The programs address these critical
questions:
- How can we create an economy that promotes individual
and community well-being within the carrying capacity of the
environment?
- Whose needs are being met by the economy?
- What is the role of the "Commons" in sustaining
environmental and cultural well-being?
- What is the difference between "growth" and
"development"?
- How do economic policies affect environmental and social
well-being?
Economics Programs and Curricula
for K-12 Educators
For
high school: "Economics for the Common Good" curriculum.
We offer a set of three units for grades 7-12 that
address product lifecycles, environmental approaches to manufacturing,
economic policies, and economic indicators.
These rigorous units are sure to invigorate existing economics
programs with fresh, interdisciplinary approaches. Download
sample lessons or purchase
the curriculum.
For middle school: "Designed by
Nature" curriculum. Our new economics program for
middle school students is focused on environmental product design.
