About
the "Lessons from the Land" High School Curriculum
Created
for science
and social studies educators
in southeast Michigan, "Lessons from the Land"
supports rigorous and relevant classroom instruction about
students' communities, the impacts of development trends,
water quality, and the role of citizens and government in
shaping a sustainable future.
The
curriculum offers 15 standards-based
lessons. Materials are in-depth and provide
ALL support materials including student texts, assessments,
transparencies, and more.View

- Social
studies teachers can
use the lessons for civics and economics courses. The content
emphasize public policy, economics, and the societal aspects of
land use trends, community planning, and decision-making.
- Science teachers
can use the lessons in earth
science, biology and ecology courses. Lessons emphasize connections
between water quality and land use, and public policy factors
affecting these.
