Example of Student Work on Sustainable Agriculture
Community-Support Farms
After a unit on world hunger, agriculture, and global trade, students researched local ways to create food systems that are more ecologically and socially sustainable.
This student visited a community-supported farm, which sells pre-paid 'subscriptions' of produce delivered each week to consumer. This arrangement provides farmers with a guaranteed income and provides consumers with fresh produce. This method of food production is sometimes called "food with the farmer's face" because of the direct link between farmer and consumer.
