Example of Student Work on Ecological Footprint

The Global Distribution of Income: Where do you sit?

To demonstrate the global distribution of income, ten students played a mock game of musical chairs.

     To demonstrate the global distribution of income, ten students played a mock game of musical chairs. It ended with two people on eight chairs and eight students squeezed onto two chairs. This inequality reflects the fact that 20% of the world's population has 80% of the income.

     Students followed the skit with an explanation of the impacts of population growth with an emphasis on the ecological impact made by different nations.

  • identifying impacts of population growth
  • analyzing data and drawing conclusions
  • communicating information through creative ways
