"Designing
Units for Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships"
Creative Change offers
1-3 day workshops focused on unit design. The program provides
teachers with frameworks, tools, and support to develop effective
units that utilize research-based instructional strategies.
Using our tested instructional
framework, teachers learn how to sequence lessons within
a unit so that students connect to the content, develop deep
understanding, make informed decisions, and engage in meaningful
actions.
Based on the most current approaches to instructional design,
the workshop takes teachers through a step-by-step process of
defining "essential understandings", guiding questions,
indicators of achievement, and assessment-- and instructional
strategies. A clear toolkit provides templates, examples, and
other resources to support the process. Teachers walk away with
a "unit makeover" that will engage, challenge, and
inspire students.
Schools can create a customized
programs by combining this workshop with additional sessions
on our content areas: Economics
